Summer on the- Part Yangtze 2

For those who don't know, I am currently working in China on Abercrombie and Kent's Yanzi Explorer, a cruise ship that takes people through the three gorges and the dam. These photos document my trip (the first few are my one day stay in Beijing).
I will continue to update these photos as often as I can, however, there will be less and less as time progresses because I will be a) repeating the journey over and over and b) will be too busy working (this first week I have been getting orientated and learning the programming).

I look terrible in this photo, but I love this lady! She is a TuJia minority Chinese who works on the ShenNong Stream as a guide. She taught me a lot of new Chinese words and was just the sweetest.

Summer on the Yangtze- Part 1

I can't write much because I am exhausted. I've been awake for 30ish hours. In any event, I survived the 13 hour plane ride and am now in an amazing hotel in the ever vibrant and smoggy Beijing. I met my Chinese teacher, Ms. Cohan, for dinner (or my 6th meal of this endless day). Photos to come.

Also, the Chinese government does prohibit blogspot, but I'm crafty and found a way around it (so I can also use facebook!).

My summer...

Several family friends have requested that I post photos and update everyone on how I'm doing while in China, so I thought that a blog would be appropriate!

DISCLAIMER: I may not be able to actually write anything, depending on my ability to navigate the 'great firewall' of China.

Facebook does not work in China without a proxy (so I might have trouble getting on), but you can e-mail me at elizabray@gmail.com or eliza.bray@duke.edu. My Skype is Eliza.Bray (skype me!). Please let me know if you want me to bring you back something or to send a postcard (I would be happy to!). I really want to hear from all of you, so please don't be shy.

Much love,
Eliza
